Apart from a teacher and some students, the whiteboard (or blackboard) is the one thing we typically visualise when we think of a school. Without the board, teachers have nowhere to highlight and record new language, illustrate meaning, pronunciation and form, or provide written feedback and error correction.
This workshop is a hands-on overview of the basics of brilliant boardwork. During the session, I will demonstrate just some of the many ways the board can be used to maximise your students’ language learning and lift lessons off the page. You will also have the opportunity to practise a range of techniques yourselves across several activities.
The session will cover:
– The multiple uses of the board
– Self-evaluation of your current boardwork
– Methods for recording emergent language
– Boardwork for warmers, fillers and games
